A.R. Rahman’s kid Alim to croon for his dad

Famous Indian music director Oscar winner A. R. Rahman’s (Slumdog Millionaire) six-year-old son Alim has sung a complete song in upcoming Hollywood romantic comedy “Couples Retreat”.



Directed by Emmy nominated Peter Billingsly (The Sacred Fire), and releasing on October nine, it is about four couples who go to a tropical island for vacation. Shot in Tahiti and USA, it stars MTV Award winner Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers), Golden Globe winner Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), Golden Globe nominated Kristin Davis (Sex and the City), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Satellite Award winner Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), etc.

Music maestro A. R. Rahman himself provides the music for this film. Alim wants to be a playback singer when he grows up and his parents are very proud of his debut performance.

Musical Maestro A.R. Rahman has finally launched his son into his world of music. Aye! The seven-year old Alim has been learning music from his dad for a long time and now is set to croon a song in Rahman’s Hollywood composition for ‘Couples Retreat’ directed by Peter …. Rahman had just tried voice test on Alim and got passed it on to the filmmaker, who was much fascinated.

The film has the situation of a kid singing and Alim will take over the stands for it. ‘Couples Retreat’ is a romantic comedy set to hit the screens by December 2009.

Shruti Haasan pairs up with Ajith in Luck

The much anticipated film Luck, which was the debut vehicle of Shruti Haasan has hit the screens on July 24th.



The media reports are that, Luck, the film that stars Imran Khan and Shruti Haasan, opened to lukewarm response at the box office. However, Shruti Haasan has proved her mettle in the film and is likely to go places, according to industry sources. It is also said that Shruti is now eyeing the Tamil film circuit.

Our sources in Kollywood say that the Haasan girl could be paired up with the Ultimate Star Ajith in his forthcoming flick. A confirmation is awaited on this from either of the sources.

HINDI “LUCK”

Shruthi Hassan: Bikini is fine, if Kamal is not around!

Kamal Hassan’s daughter says that she is ready to act even in a Bikini for a film, but not in front of her Dad Kamal.

Debuting as an actress with Imran Khan in the Hindi film Luck, Shruthi hopes a lot on this flick. In her recent interview she told, “Actually Imran considers me his little sister, but that didn’t make it difficult for me to romance him on screen…! But the film is not all romance. I have even done some terrific stunts…”

About doing a bikini scene, she commented, “It is okay with me. I don’t know why a great deal is made out of the bikini.. All those who have worn it till date, have looked good. For me, if you have a great body then go ahead with the bikini. But… my problem is my dad. He shouldn’t be in the same film!”

Apart from her debut movie, Shruthi is now busy with her father’s project Unnaipol Oruvan as a composer.
